This appears to be the stamp of the manufacturer of the board/paper used by artists for their creations.Pattern name is Stamped label written in French which appears to say something about "Honorable Mention at Exposition Universelle of 1855, Papier, Carton, Chassis, Toiles, Anti-Ponce pour le Pastel, P. This particular mark was designed in I've never seen their mark handwritten, so can't guarantee the authenticity of this, but tend to believe it is genuine.
